You're probably used to accessing everything from your bank account to your favorite streaming service through apps on your phone. Good news: you can do the same with Moodle! Instead of always having to open a web browser and navigate to the full website, you can download the Open LMS app and have quick access to your courses right from your home screen.
The setup process takes just a few minutes and involves connecting your phone to your BCC Moodle account through a simple QR code scan.
Getting Started with the Open LMS App
First, you'll need to download the Open LMS app from your phone's app store. Search for "Open LMS" (not just "Moodle") and look for the app with the distinctive orange and white logo. Or just use our buttons below!
Once you've installed the app, don't try to log in just yet. The connection process works a bit differently than you might expect: instead of entering your username and password directly into the app, you'll scan a special QR code from your computer.
Connecting Your Phone to Your Moodle Account
On your computer, log into Moodle as you normally would, then navigate to your profile settings.
Scroll down and you'll find a QR code specifically designed for mobile app connections.
Open the Open LMS app on your phone and look for the option to scan a QR code or connect to a site. Point your phone's camera at the QR code on your computer screen, and the app will automatically configure itself with your BCC Moodle account.
If you get an error message stating that: "The site URL is not valid." That typically means that your mobile device and the computer you are scanning the QR code on, are currently on different networks. For this to work, they both need to be on the same wi-fi network.
If the QR code is not working: You can instead type in "moodle.berkshirecc.edu" in the "Your site" field in the Open LMS app and then sign-in with your BCC credentials.
That's it! Your phone now has direct access to all your courses, announcements, and assignments. You'll be able to check your grades, read course materials, and even submit assignments, all without opening a web browser.
